So sorry! That's an awful sound. I lost a hard drive on a trip to Chicago once - fortunately had just done a full backup before I left - but ever since then I have been paranoid about it happening again. I am now backed up in 2 ways to the cloud and one way to a physical drive.

I recall losing a hard drive once, that went fizz pop and bang in quick succession, lost everything on it with just a few floppy disc backups. That was a few, years, erm, decades ago (ish).

I am so so so so sorry. I was living in Mexico City when my laptop went KABLOOEY! and I know the stress of trying to deal with that. But you are right -- getting set up again is so much easier than it used to be. Looking forward to the new season!
