So sorry! That's an awful sound. I lost a hard drive on a trip to Chicago once - fortunately had just done a full backup before I left - but ever since then I have been paranoid about it happening again. I am now backed up in 2 ways to the cloud and one way to a physical drive.
I recall losing a hard drive once, that went fizz pop and bang in quick succession, lost everything on it with just a few floppy disc backups. That was a few, years, erm, decades ago (ish).
I am so so so so sorry. I was living in Mexico City when my laptop went KABLOOEY! and I know the stress of trying to deal with that. But you are right -- getting set up again is so much easier than it used to be. Looking forward to the new season!
How far did technology go so that it’s more difficult to lose all your data. But what is the environmental cost of massive data centres? What’s the environmental cost of peace of mind? 🤔 💭 🤯
