I love buses! I didn't realize how much until I was traveling for book research and tried to get around American cities by bus. It is so hard and weird compared to taking buses in the UK. Such fun to read, thank you. And I love this line: "the fact you can go anywhere without a car is a key strain of Britishness." (So true. My English in-laws never learned to drive.)

As a somewhat new subscriber, I am methodically going back and reading everything from the beginning. In 2020, during our lockdown, my husband and I decided to walk on every residential street in our small city, El Segundo, California. We went out most days, and then eventually walked all the non residential streets also. Discovered some interesting places, there’s a lot of small industry here, being right next to the Los Angeles Airport. Met a lot of dogs, not so many people, and a few friendly cats. Saw a lot of interesting landscaping.
