This inspired me to really try the 7th-week sabbatical thing in 2023, not just think about.
Those weeks would be perfect for being playfully curious. For reading things I might not otherwise read and chasing rabbit trails to write about things I wouldn't otherwise write.
Hooray! I'm so glad. This is something that has worked brilliantly for other Substack owners (for example, Kevin's New Fatherhood: https://www.thenewfatherhood.org/) and nobody who has done it has regretted it. Giving yourself a break in this newsletter lark is *incredibly* important. The between-season breaks I've done over the previous 4 seasons have allowed me to catch up with myself, work out what I could be doing better, and just, you know, NOT WRITE ANYTHING.
Give it a try! I'd love to know how it goes for you. :)
I'd actually want to write during that time. Most of the writing I do is for work and not for me...it would be a totally different brain space. :) And, of course, there would be much more room for exploration without a ton of work ALSO on my plate at the same time....
Mike, this is absolute genius. Now let's see if I can tear myself away from the internets long enough to try different things IRL. I'm sure I... SQUIRREL! 🐿️

For going to different towns and exploring.
Mike, man, you've opened up my world a bit! 😁
